Optimization of Operational Parameters of an Improved Maize Sheller Using Response Surface Methodology

The research was carried out to optimize parameters for evaluating an improved motorize maize sheller. Statistical analysis performed using response surface methodology (RSM) with 3 by factorial experiment replicates. three are speed (850 rpm, 950 rpm and 1100 rpm), moisture content (12, 15, 17%) feed rate (120 kg h-1, 130 h-1 140 h-1) used illustrate the ability of machine shell (throughput capacity, shelling efficiency). Results obtained showed that optimum throughput capacity 630.97 h-1; 485.34 efficiency 93.86% machine; is maximum 129.6 16.49% 1026.9 rpm. can be on commercial farms these operational results.
